Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technique has become a standard tool in biosciences and pharmaceutical research laboratories. It has become essential to study and characterize molecular interactions, explore the structure-function relationships of biomolecules and understand complex biochemical systems.

SPR helps you to analyze these biomolecular interactions, including association and dissociation kinetics in real time, without any labeling requirements.

Areas of study include:

  • Antigen-antibody interactions
  • Surface modifications, including molecular monolayers
  • Polymerization and electropolymerization
  • Biosensors and DNA/RNA chips research
  • Biocompatibility of coatings
  • Kinetics of biomolecule interactions
  • Drugs-proteins interactions

Electrochemistry and SPR

The Autolab SPR system also offers a unique ability to combine both SPR and electrochemistry measurement, including cyclic voltammetry, chrono-amperometry as well as impedance spectroscopy.

The Autolab ESPRIT and SPRINGLE provide you with an easy-to-use hardware and software system to help control and monitor these interactions. Using this non-invasive, simple and robust measuring technique, the Autolab SPR system provides high-quality sample data quickly and easily.

The key features of our SPR instrumentation are

  • Open cuvette system allowing for extended contact
  • Sample recovery for irreplaceable samples
  • No large sample volumes required—only 50 µl
  • Large refractive index range (1.26–1.52) to allow for alternate solvents and solutions
  • Combined electrochemical and SPR measurement for more data on sample interactions (ESPR)
  • Custom modified disks and surfaces
  • Available adapter for Biacore® sensor chip
  • Lower initial start up and total cost of ownership
  • Scanning mirror optics to ensure accurate measurements

The Autolab ESPRIT dual-channel system allows you to run multiple samples on a fully automated system, including sample recovery if required. With two channels, one can be used for sample measurement and the second as a reference for non-specific binding compensation temperature.
The Autolab SPRINGLE is a single-channel unit with a compact design, making it an affordable alternative for research chemists who want a superior measurement technique.

Both the ESPRIT and SPRINGLE have sophisticated control and data acquisition software, which allows for use of either preprogrammed or custom sequences for sample measurement and handling.

For custom-coated disks, Eco Chemie can supply you with a Spincoater to help make the process easier.
